3rd Annual DC Homebrewers BBQ at Bardo Saturday

DSC_0021

DC Homebrewers is hosting its third annual barbecue fundraiser at Trinidad's own Bardo Brewpub (1200 Bladensburg Road). From the press release: "The annual barbecue serves as a chance for the all-volunteer club to showcase and educate its members and the public on the art of homebrewing, alternate brewing techniques, and sensory panels to help new and advanced homebrewers expand their brewing and beer knowledge."

Proceeds from the event will support DC Homebrewers' education offerings and the Common Good City Farm. Common Good City Farm is and urban farm and education center operating on a half-acre in LeDroit Park. Their mission is to grow food, educate, and help low-income community members meet their food needs.

This is free to attend, but you can buy a $10 food ticket that gets you a plate of barbecue (vegetarian option available) and two sides. Buy a Bardo beer for $4, or purchase a hand-crafted soda.

The event runs from 1-4pm and will feature a homebrewing demonstration, educational beer talks, and a raffle.

OT: Inked, any word on what in the world is going on with the former XII? I thought I remember them being closed because of their liquor license being still under suspension; and that there was some discussion here of some very odd-sounding plans for a dinner/food service training place going in. But apparently the night before last, there was something involving loud music going on; at noon yesterday, a new awning went up over the door saying "Touché"; and by late last night, there was some incident nearby with two folks detained, cops searching the sidewalk on hands and knees for evidence, and cops going into/out of the old XII/new Touché/whatever.

Any idea what this is all about?

Annoyingmous,
I was actually out of town this weekend, so I don't know much more than what you've already written. Touché is the new culinary training/supper club that's supposed to take over the XII space. I know the ANC is still dealing with ABRA related issue over there, so I'm sure the issues this weekend will become part of that discussion. As the successor to XII's liquor license Touché would still be bound by XII's settlement agreement (previously called a voluntary agreement).
